Evaluation is concerned with the effects of different actions on people. In the search for evidence that advances people’s well being, communities are interested in approaches that can be used to transform their circumstances. Evaluation provides information to decision makers on the value of programs, projects, services, and the policies behind them. It determines whether the intended benefits of the activities are realized. It can also identify the processes that lead to a specific impact. The former type of evaluation is usually called “Outcome Evaluation” while the latter is called “Process evaluation”. Among community organizations working in the HIV/AIDS field in Manitoba and Saskatchewan , evaluation is a priority. These organizations are interested in learning the impact of their work on program participants. LinksThe following websites provide tools for program evaluation. Some of these resources focus on HIV/AIDS programs while others are more general.
